The band I am about to introduce you to, are the band responsible for my 2nd most played track of 2012. Based on how much music I listen to, that's quite an accomplishment! The band goes by the name of "Alphabet Backwards" and they make happy, catchy, fun pop music.
I was lucky enough to have a chat with vocalist/guitarist James, and he was kind enough to answer a few questions for us so that you guys can get to know them a little better! So, here we go!
Hey guys, could you us a bit about who you are and what you do?
"We are a 5 piece band from the city of Oxford, more specifically the surrounding villages."
How would you describe your sound?
It gets thrown around as indie pop, I don't really believe in genres but i guess i understand they need to be involved in music and assisting in localizing a search a little bit. It does mean you can miss some wonderful things but yeah Indie pop.
Who would you compare yourself to in the industry right now?
We sound like every band just trying to put a tune out there if your excuse my flippancy. We get a genuine freakshow quite a lot in comparison which i certainly don't mind as i really enjoy their bands.
So, what can people expect if they come down to one of your shows?
We enjoy playing live a lot and hope that that sense of enjoyment comes across. Hopefully people leave with a smile and think they have seen a decent performance. We put a lot of effort into our live side of things.
What's your favourite song you guys have written?
Its one of the hardest questions as the newest one is always my favourite but I guess "Blink Of An Eye" (See Above) is my favourite It kinda signifies quite a lot to me in the sense of how are sound developed from that track and what went on to be three EP's in a year. Plus, its a real stalwart of our live set and i love playing it. Rhythmically i think "Little P" did a wonderful job.
And finally where can your fans (or new fans) find you?
We are currently hibernating for a couple of winter months and writing a few new tunes ready for the return of Spring and hopefully festivals and a tour to potentially support a new release. We have just released our first Christmas single so hopefully that will get us on some random ITV 3 show in the future talking about some spurious link to the season. In the meantime...

I'd like to thank Josh for taking the time to answer these questions for us. I've been a fan of the band for a couple of years now. Truth be told, I'm still shocked beyond belief that these guys haven't made it yet!
If you were curious, their song which managed to claim second place on my most played of 2012 list was their song "Plastic". Ironically, it's not even one of their most popular songs. But, it was the first song I heard by them, and I start uncontrollably bouncing whenever I hear it, so it must be good! Check it out below, and make sure you support these guys in making incredible music!
