Personally, I feel honored to introduce this next band to you. I've been a fan of them for a few years now, and it rather annoys me that I have to do an "Introducing" article on them, as you should bloody know who they are by now!
Anyways, this lovely band I'm talking about goes by the name of "The Good Natured" and they make dark, interesting pop music. Music that's hard to sum up in words, so get past the jump, check out their incredible video below, and check out their answers to some of our questions. Let's get to know "The Good Natured" a bit better!
Hey guys, could you tell us a bit about who you are and what you do?
George: We're The Good Natured and we make pop music!
Sarah: We've just finished our debut album which is due for release in 2013. We can't wait.
Hamish: Our first single 5-HT is released on March 8th in the UK and is available to pre-order from iTunes now!
How would you describe your sound?
Sarah: It's like Robert Smith and Katy Perry had a love child!
Hamish: Yeah, or if Siouxsie Sioux joined The Killers.
Who would you compare yourself to in the industry right now?
Sarah: We wouldn't want to. We think our music is unique. We like to call ourselves 'modern wave', a twist on the new wave movement which especially influenced our sound. Our music is a lot punkier than anything out right now. We sometimes call ourselves 'pop noir' too, because we turn dark emotions into pop songs.
So, what can people expect if they come down to one of your shows?
George: A good time!
Hamish: Sarah likes to get into the crowd and dance with people.
Sarah: Haha, yeah I do. It's really fun to interact with the audience like that.
George: Come see us! We're playing with in the UK with Swiss Lips at the end of February, and supporting Imagine Dragons in April.
What can people expect if they listen to one of your EP's?
Sarah: Our EP's are quite varied! The first The Good Natured EP was literally just me playing my Grandma's 1980's Yamaha keyboard. I love that old thing, even if some of the key's don't work now. I wrote my first ever songs on it so it has a very special place in my heart!
Hamish: The second EP 'Your Body Is A Machine' was a progression. Sarah and I were still trying to find our sound.
Sarah: I'm really proud of that song. It's on our album. It wasn't until we met George in 2010 that everything fell into place though. We released the Skeleton EP which got us signed and really defined us as a band. 'Skeleton' is a great taster of what the album will sound like.
And what's your favourite song you guys have written?
George: A song called 'Sirens' which is on our album. The chorus is so big! Playing it live is epic. It'll blow your mind!
Hamish: For me a song called 'Handprints' on our album!. The bass line is probably the most challenging of all our songs to play. I enjoy a challenge!
Sarah: It depends what mood I am in. We get a great reaction live when we play a song called 'Lovers'. That's one I always look forward to in the set!
And finally where can your fans (or new fans) find you?
I need to thank the band so much for taking the time to answer these questions!
I don't think you guys understand how honored I feel to have done an interview with these guys. They're one of favorite pop bands of all time! They're so talented & unqiue, but manage to remain humble. And they deserve credit for that!
