A lot of musicians nowadays have a varied career. Whether that be different genres they play, or actual career choices they take on along with music. The next fellow I'm about to introduce to you certainly has an interesting past. He's also a part of one of the most brilliant viral hits of all time. But more on that later.
Circuit21 is the alias of Robert Brown, an Irish pop sensation, who you owe it to yourself to check out. Robert has a new single coming out under the alias of Circuit21, so we had the chance to ask Robert a few questions! Let's see what he had to say...
Hey Robert, thanks for taking the time to talk to us! Why don't you tell us a bit about who you are, and what you do?
Hey! Thanks for asking me! I'm Robert Brown aka Circuit21 and I'm a singer/song writer from Belfast N.Ireland! I have lived in London, Amsterdam and Copenhagen throughout my career, but settled back in Belfast to write and record my new Album.
Many people will know you from viral hit BearForce1 (Video above), but what was your favourite part about being in the band?
Bearforce1 was a total blast from start to finish! Our first song went viral, almost 3 million hits and the second and third single were in the top 10! We toured extensively throughout Europe and America for almost 3 years, so as you can imagine, it was pretty hectic. I suppose the best part of it all was the actual touring, visiting different Cities and meeting all kinds of weird and wonderful people, some who have become great friends! It still fascinates me that no matter how far away someone lives, thanks to the internet, with the click of a button, you're there singing right in their room; they forge a connection with you.
You've had a very varied career, from your fashion work, to the band and now the solo career. What do you enjoy the most?
From Menswear, to Bearforce and now Circuit21! I know! Mental! I have to say it's usually the process of working on any project that gives me the most satisfaction. I love being in the studio, I love the actual recording process as a song develops and I certainly enjoy the writing! For me it's the most creative part of it, as a song in its infancy, can go in any direction.
We LOVE your new single "Love In The Shadows", but what does the song mean to you?
Thank you very much! Love in the shadows first came to me in 1986! Sung my an amazing vocalist called EG Daly.
When a song has been in your head for that amount of time the only way to exorcise it is to record it! I love the chord structure in it, I love that it starts almost as a lament for lost love, but build to a hands in the air euphoric climax!
You have a new album due out later in the year, what can people expect from it?
I most certainly do! The album is called Eventually and it is constructed very much like a book. There is a definite beginning and very nostalgic middle and a positive, uplifting end. It's strange to listen back to it now as it's so obviously a melting pot of all my experiences through my teens to now! A lot of past experiences are addressed in this album!!
Finally, where can people find you?
Love In The Shadows is now available to pre-order on iTunes, the official release date is July 28th.You can check out the website on www.circuit21.com and everything links from there to Facebook and Twitter! I'd like to thank Robert for taking the time to answer these questions!
Well, there you go. A lovely bloke, who makes super catchy pop with everything that's missing from most mainstream pop today. I think you owe it to Robert to go and pre-order the phenomenal "Love In The Shadows" on iTunes now,
