There seems to have been rather a resurgence in teen-pop as of late. With Justin Bieber & Conor Maynard dominating the airwaves worldwide, it's hard not to be dulled down with all the generic teen-pop. We have someone who's gonna break that trend.
This young gentlemans name is James Robb, and yes, I know he's going to receive so many comparisons to Justin Bieber & Conor Maynard that it's unbelievable. But hear me out. This guy is actually good! The lovely lad had a chat with me & answered some questions so you lovely people could get to know him a little better. So, here we go!
Hey James, could you tell us a bit about who you are and what you do?
I'm a 20 year old Singer/Songwriter from Hertfordshire. I'm currently writing my first album and I'll be releasing my remix of We All Try, with a music video on February 14th!
How would you describe your sound?
A lot of the stuff I've written is rooted in quite soulful r&b, but with bits of pop thrown in here and there. My We All Try remix is definitely more urban.
Who would you compare yourself to in the industry right now?
That's always difficult to answer! Obviously people like Conor Maynard who is the same age and also in that R&B bracket, but I think my stuff has a different feel to it. I'll leave you to decide :)
So, what can people expect if they come down to one of your shows?
A good time I hope! I've been working on my sets over the past few weeks. There are a few acoustic gigs coming up, so it'll be cool to play my originals but also some fun covers.
What's your favourite song you have written? (Released, or to be released).
I've written this really spacey sounding song that's not released yet. It's kind of got that Sam Sparro 'black and gold' feel to it. I listen to it all the time haha. So listen out for that.
And finally where can your fans (or new fans) find you?
I'd like to thank James for taking the time to answer these questions.
There's something about James' voice that I really like. Now, I know that last statement isn't going to do my Journalistic credibility any good, but, hear me out. His voice is very atmospheric, and I could totally imagine it on a haunting ambient track or something. Anyways, he's definitely one to watch! So keep your eye on him!
