Boybands have become cool again. There's no avoiding that fact. What with One Direction & The Wanted dominating the airwaves worldwide, everyone wants to be the next big boyband. Well, call me Louis Walsh, but I think that I've found them.
These 5 lovely young lads go by the name of "Rewind" and they're a boyband from the lovely place that is Scotland. The lads were nice enough to answer some questions for you oh so lucky readers to get to know them a bit better! So, here we go...
Hey guys, could you us a bit about who you are and what you do?
We are Rewind, 5 young Scottish boys age 18 and 19, who are passionate about music and performing. We are busy creating our music at the moment and hope to have it out as soon as we feel its ready to be heard. We are mates too, which makes all the difference. So we can hang out with our friends and make music at the same time.
How would you describe your sound?
The 5 of us gave brought something different to the table, Andy loves singer/songwriter music, Lewis and Ryan are into hip hop/rap, Jacks a fan of the old school songs and I love chart music. We've took bits and pieces from the music we love and combined them to make a sound that is "Rewind" I don't think you could put out music in box. We are just about 'great' songs and feel so lucky, just to be 5 Scottish lads, most of us, never having been out of Glasgow and now to be recording in one of the biggest studios in London http://www.strongroom.com/ we still have to pinch ourselves at times.
Who would you compare yourself to in the industry right now?
The obvious comparison is One Direction, we love the boys and what they've achieved in such a short space of time is incredible. However, I think in time people will see we are different styles and whilst we embrace that comparison, we are not an 'x'factor made band, and it's not really justified beyond the fact we are 5 young boys with big hair! We also write a lot of our own songs unlike other bands out there just now, and plan to put them on YouTube, rather than just do cover after cover.
So, what can people expect if they come down to one of your shows?
Energy! We love performing, it's very important to us that we put on a good show and also to perform our original songs not just covers. To think any one has took the time to come out and see us really makes us want to give then all we have. We are big fans of the iconic stars like Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury so "performing" and entertaining is something we are passionate about!
What can people expect from your debut album?
Our album will be a mix of us co writing with some of the biggest platinum selling writers/producers in UK and USA. We have been writing in our bedrooms and now we can't believe we are co writing with Ed Sheeran writers to Girls Aloud's writers. I think people will be pleasantly surprised when they get to hear what 5 Scottish lads have created!
And what's your favourite song you have written?
James... My personal favourite is 'Taken Away'. It was the first song we wrote as a band and one we're all really proud of. It's one of those songs that will appeal to a wide age group. I also think its a really credible song, something you wouldn't expect a pop band to do. We hope everyone will like it.
And finally where can your fans (or new fans) find you?
I'd like to thank the lads for taking the time to answer these questions!
Anyone who knows me will know I've always had a bit of a thing for boybands. Not necessarily modern boybands, but 90's boybands as a genre holds some of my favourite artists of all time! Could we have another *NSYNC on our hands? Well, only time can tell. But start following these guys, so you can be one of the first to say "I was one of the people who knew them before they were famous"
