Well, I'm really excited to introduce our next artist! She's an electro-pop queen that goes by the name of "Maya Von Doll". She makes very catchy pop music with dance-sensibilities which I haven't stopped listening to over the past few months. Her new single "Is This Love" (which can be found below) was just released, and it's a rather spectacular pop ditty.
I was lucky enough to speak with Maya, and she was kind enough to answer a few questions for us, so that you guys can get to know her a little better. These are possibly my favorite answers yet, and I want her as my new best friend. Okay Maya? It's sorted!
Hey Maya, could you tell us a bit about who you are and what you do?
I'm an electro-pop artist that likes to sing about my own inevitable downfall. Occasionally I write feisty numbers for artists that you've heard of.
How would you describe your sound?
90s new wave with harder beats and sexier grooves.
Who would you compare yourself to in the industry right now?
Difficult! M.I.A., The Knife, Britney Spears, Hurts, Skrillex.
So, what can people expect if they come down to one of your shows?
Whiskey at the bar, pouty girls in the loos & big sultry pop tunes.
What's your favourite song you have written? (Released, or to be released)?
Definitely 'Napoleon Baby' my lead single from the EP 'Fresh from the Fight', it's like a cross between Donna Summer and Bronski Beat. You will dance.
And finally where can your fans (or new fans) find you?
Anyone who knows me, will know that I've grown a bit sick of all the current dance trends in pop. I couldn't give a toss for dubstep, and electro-pop is the only saving grace for me. It's artists like Maya that deserve attention. I reckon, given a bit more promotion, we could have another "Marina & The Diamonds" style star on our hands! I certainly hope for the best, and she's definitely on my "ones to watch" list!
