We're about to introduce you to a fella who makes some of THE best emotional pop we've ever heard. Benjamin Steel has pretty much everything you could want from the perfect popstar. He's got the huge choruses, memorable, catchy beats, and also some slick choreography too.
He's just about to release his new tune Stormchaser, and the second we heard it we just had to know more! Check it out after the jump, and read on to find out what Benjamin had to say about it...
Hey Benjamin, thanks for taking the time to talk to us here at Popshade, why don't you tell us a bit about who you are and what you do?
I am Benjamin Steel and I write music, perform music and play guitar and piano.
Stormchaser is a TUNE! We're feeling some proper 90's vibes but with a bit of a modern touch. What does the track mean to you?
That track is basically the moment where I realise the girl I was with for a long time was not who I thought she was. It was written the moment after I had found out what her life had become after she had left me. Seeing shots of her soon after we broke up going out,
dressing very slutty and getting with a lot of guys. Just becoming a person I did not know at all. It was far more than a break up, it was like losing a part of me, 'Stormchaser' deals with how I felt when I realised she was not who I thought she was.
We hear that your debut album is close to being finished. What can we expect from it?
The album didn't start as concept album but ended up being a concept album. 'Stormchaser' fits in middle of the record thematically as the album starts out in America, when I was with her and everything was ok.
What we've heard from you so far has been proper upbeat and makes us want to get a little crazy, but will we see a bit more of a sensitive side to you on the album? A cheeky ballad or two?
There are definitely some sensitive tracks on the record. There is Footprints On The Moon, which is about letting go of everything that I had and moving on. It sits directly before Stormchaser on the album. Then there is We're The Same, which is about me finding
happiness again. I think Charades is quite a sad song, it is very bittersweet.
You've worked with some pretty big names, from Timbaland to DJ Ironik, but who would be your dream collaboration?
We're a pop site, so, straight up, who's your favourite pop artist of all time?
It will be quite obvious from the last question, Michael Jackson. Hands down the greatest popstar that has ever lived.
What can people expect if they come down to one of your live shows?
The live show is going to be very cinematic, very exciting. It is going to make people feel like they have experienced the album, not just listened to it. There are some songs you won't hear on the album, which we play stripped down. It is going to have twists and turns and
Is it recording in the studio or live shows that you enjoy more?
Performing. Performing. Performing.
Finally, where can peeps find you?
Live dates will be announced soon. I can be found at www.benjaminsteelofficial.com - I am also on Twitter (@imbenjaminsteel) and Facebook (benjaminsteelofficial)
We'd like to thank Benjamin for taking the time to answer these questions.
Well, there you have it. We're sure you'll agree with us that Stormchaser is a HUGE tune! We reckon Benjamin could make some serious waves over here, so if you loved what you heard, make sure to keep your eyes on iTunes, as the single is released on January 14 2015.
